The LA Times published an interesting article last week about Edmodo, a social networking site for schools, teachers, and classrooms.  Two social networking entrepreneurs have invested $15 million in the site, which they are betting will transform the technology landscape within schools.  The article also cites an interesting conversation that reportedly happened between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates before Jobs’ death:

In their last meeting before he died, Steve Jobs spoke with Bill Gates about the future of digital technology in the classroom given how little headway it had made. They agreed that “computers had, so far, made surprisingly little impact on schools — far less than on other realms of society such as media and medicine and law,” according to Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs.
